Elite Ninja Flipping Unit

Today marks the start of siteflipu’s blog flipping contest. 5 teams of 5 people and i’m in one of them.

Day #3/365

We’re called the Elite Ninja Flipping Unit and here’s who we have on board;

  • Girish (Captain) - no flagship blog, but no stranger to flipping sites and i know this guy well - ultra reliable and an excellent leader for a 16 year old :smile:
  • Me - I need no introduction on this blog!
  • Forest - This guy is a bit crazy as you can see from his blog gears video. He actually won the last contest with frugalzeitgeist.com so he has the last laugh :cool:
  • Jay - jay’s blog has over 400 subscribers and he’s probably the most prolific blogger (apart from me) in the team.
  • Mark Cuda - 15 year old but with some experience behind him already. Had i started this at 15, i’d probably be a millionaire by now :smile:

As for a blog to flip, we’re gonna roll with one of my ideas which i believe is bullet proof. It can’t not work if it’s done right. We have 45 days starting today to flip this blog for as much cash as possible. We hope to have 80+ blog posts on it by that stage.

We won’t be the favourites to win, i think Bryan’s team (the contest holder) will be expected to clean up but we have other plans :twisted:

I’ll be keeping you all updated on how we’re getting along and once we get the site up and running i’ll reveal why we’ve chosen the niche and why i think it’s bullet proof.

changing my flipping style

My 3 sites a week challenge worked for a good while… it was hard work, but it meant i was able to create and sell sites for fun :mrgreen: I then had my repeat maths exam to prepare for and sort of had to devote my time to it instead. So the 3 sites a week challenge died a bit, even though i have recently started churning out a few sites again.

What i’m finding though, is that this ‘quick flip’ business is getting more and more saturated. You can no longer put together a partially unique design, some unique content and expect a few hundred $$$ in cash… you will see profit - don’t get me wrong, but not as much as you would have done 6 months ago.

So i’m now going to have to adapt to this change and added competition and view ‘flips’ as longer term work. New kids on the block want to make money and make it now, so they’ll be happy to flip sites for instant profit… in my eyes, that market is drying up now and site flippers have to hang on to sites longer and develop them further before selling.

So i’m issuing myself a challenge for the month of September;

  • I have to create 1 new site
  • I must create 15-20 quality blog posts for it myself
  • I need to drive as much traffic as possible to the site
  • I must then sell it at the end of the month for as much as possible
  • If it makes sense and the site is super hot, i’m allowed hang on to it for a while longer

So rather than the usual quick flips you guys are used to seeing from me, you’ll now see me work at a different level. If this proves to be successful, i may well continue it every month.

Hot off the production line

I’ve spoken about stupiddrivers.net before…

Now it’s complete, as part of my ‘3 sites a week challenge’. Here’s a break down of the time it took;

  • Logo - 20 minutes (did it a few weeks ago)
  • Theme - 2 hours
  • Content - 20 minutes
  • Installation/Set up - 20 minutes.

So this one took about 3 hours from start to finish - not bad… if it sells for over $40 it’s job done :mrgreen:

It’ll be going up for sale later, BIN of around $90. This domain also has a pagerank of 2 for some unknown reason, so i’d imagine i’ll have no problem selling this one.
