sawurl

no new sites today

Shock, horror, i’ve created zero sites today

I have, however, spent $20 on sitepoint listings. One for sawurl and another for snapbone. The sawurl auction is going well, with a current high bid of $100 - just $40 off the BIN.

I’m really not overly happy selling it though… the domain name is really useful and i’ve no doubt if i had held on to it for longer and promoted it more i could have gotten a decent pagerank, traffic, members and sold for much more…

But that’s the way it goes… at the end of the day, it’s not the worst situation to be in - getting $100+ for my troubles somewhat softens the blow ;-)

My ability to turn on the style though has impressed myself. I’ve created about half a dozen unique websites within a week from out of nowhere… it all stemmed from a 15 minute brainstorming session.

They’ll have brought in over $250 once sawurl sells. That’s just over a few days… it’s a great feeling knowing that i can just sit down and work whenever i want to earn some cash - there’s not many people who can do that. Sure, it’s relatively small money i’m taking about, but i have to stress i’m by no means an expert designer or coder - in fact, i’d call myself a novice.

Once i actually learn how to write custom scripts and design properly i’ll be a dangerous money making weapon online

But money isn’t really the be all and end all, expect me to drift in and out of periods like this - if i get bored of working too much i’ll stop - the last thing i need or want is to lose interest in something i love.

It’s pretty clear now that i know how to flip sites for profit on a small scale. As they’re all custom designed, I also must have an eye for design. It’ll be very interesting to see how my big guns compare in the future - i.e BeerChief.

I don’t think i’ve ever lost money buying and selling a site - mygadgetinfo.com sold for less than what i bought it for, but it made up for that in month to month revenue. So not a bad record i have ;-)

SawUrl up for sale

Another day, another site up for sale.

This time it’s sawurl.com and it’s on sitepoint
Beautiful, custom designed, url shortener site

I’ve set a BIN of $140 on this one. Mainly due to the fact i’m actually pretty reluctant to sell it. I toyed with the idea of hanging on to it. The domain name, i feel, is excellent. The script is also pretty smooth and AJAXy and the whole site is just so simple and clean…

So if this one doesn’t sell i won’t be too disappointed. If it sells for the BIN, i will of course be delighted as it’ll be more cash in the bank and will beef up my 3 sites a week / minimum wage project.

But domains like this are getting harder and harder to come by. 6 characters dot com, relevant, easy to remember… 10 years down the line i may regret selling these hot domain!

Saw Url

‘Saw Url’ is the name of my latest site (sawurl.com)

I’ve also bought rights to a small url shortener script. This just gives me permission to use it. $29 on unlimited domains. Normally i wouldn’t pay for scripts, but this one is pretty cool and i’m more than confident i can use it a few times and really make it worth my while…

sawurl.com is also an excellent domain name. As in ’sawing’ a url or cutting bits of it off - that’s exactly what the site will do.

You’ll be able to use sawurl to ‘hide’ affiliate links or just shorten urls… so lets say i want to email you a link to; ’smemon.com/blabla/12345/blabla123.php’

if you put that link in to saw url, it’ll chop it down to ’sawurl.com/1′ or something like that.

I don’t use these type of sites myself, but plenty of people do and with a decent name and script, it just means i need a design.

Chek out this custom made icon i made earlier;

Hopefully i’ll have the site up by this evening…
