2nd best SEO in Ireland
The geansai gorm SEO competition is finally over and i’ve bagged a very respectable 2nd spot. The site hit no.2 spot yesterday, much to my amazement as it had slid down the pecking order last week.
No change in things today which means i came second behind Paul Savage’s mybluejumper.com. I’m delighted with that performance. I was ‘taken out’ last week with cold/flu/fatigue and so didn’t do much on the site itself. Had i got that week back maybe i could have pushed for top spot.
Some interesting things to note are;
- bluejumpernews.com (my entry) was the only site in the top 10 results to be hosted on a non-irish host/server. It begs the question, had i been on an Irish server, could i have nipped in to get top spot? Reason being, google have said before that server location plays a role in SEO.
- bluejumpernews.com ranks no.1 for ‘geansai gorm’ in yahoo.com (there’s no equivalent of google.ie, only yahoo ‘pages from ireland’ which is like google ‘pages from ireland’).
- bluejumpernews.com has 11 pages indexed and 33 incoming links according to yahoo, 41 pages indexed, 1 incoming link according to google. The winner, mybluejumper.com has 1 page and 1 incoming link according to yahoo, 37 pages indexed, 42 incoming links according to google.
I’ve learned a great deal from this SEO competition and picked up a lot of tips. Although it’s nice to come second, i’m sort of disappointed i came that high purely because it shows i’m not that far off the pace when it comes to aggressive SEO’ing. Had i come 14th or 15th or something i would have been angry and eager to learn more.
But bluejumpernews.com WILL continue to grow and as i’ve said before, i won’t stop developing it until it becomes no.1 for the term geansai gorm – doesn’t matter how long it takes, it’ll be nailing that no.1 spot at some stage as that was the objective from the start.
So my first SEO competition ends in what i’d call success – 2nd place. Now i’ve set the bar for myself, next time anything less than 1st won’t be good enough 
I’m now closing in on no.1 spot in a competition to find out who ireland’s top SEO is. It’s been a real battle so far with the top 5 seemingly unbreakable… that is until today when my very own Geansai Gorm site has smashed that trend and come in at 5th spot in google.ie or more importantly 4th in this competition overall.
4th is not bad. Not bad at all. Were this thing to finish right now, i could claim to be the 4th best SEO in the country In reality, i’d never claim that though as i need more experience and records to my name in order to ‘prove’ myself worthy of being labeled a top SEO.
I’ll be very happy if i can break in to the top 3 and if i can win this, it’ll be a massive notch on my belt with this being my very first SEO competition 
Unlike the rest, i’m not playing this down publicly whilst fighting fiercely behind the scenes…. make no bones about it – i set out to win this from the moment i heard about it and i’ll be battling right up until the last hour for no.1 spot.
If i was to play this down and use this as a 100% experimental site, i can guarantee i would not be ranked 4th now. I know what SEO is, what it involves and how to go about it… as i’ve said before the only thing stopping me or any of the top 10/15 results from grabbing no.1 spot is workrate and workrate alone.
I’ve moved up steadily over the past couple of weeks and have yet to go DOWN a place in google for 24 hours or more… i’ve always been on the up. That’s a good sign and it’s also a good sign i’m apparantly after knocking one of the steady eddie’s out of the running.

It’s pretty clear this Geansai Gorm contest is gonna be a lot tighter than expected. BlueJumperNews.com was ranked 6th at it’s peak a couple of days ago but it’s slipped back to 12th today for the term ‘geansai gorm‘ in google.ie
Overall, it’s ranked 7th now in this competition. So i’ve unleashed a secret weapon – blockbuster style video

This increased workrate comes at a time when i believe other sites are putting the boot down and getting away from the pack… almost like marathon runners deliberately bunching up and conserving energy then when one moves, they all make a dash for the line – well the dash for the line has come with almost 3 weeks to go so inevitably some guys are gonna get burned out by that stage – i’ll not be one of them
I can’t be if i’m to finish near the top of this thing….

This ‘geansai gorm’ SEO competition has really taken off… on November 1st there were 2220 results returned in google.ie for the term ‘geansai gorm’.
6 days later, it’s at 10,500. So far, i reckon there’s at least 12 sites that follow the rules and are indexed in google.ie.
Although i got off to slugish start with Geansai Gorm News, it’s now ranked no.12 for the term ‘geansai gorm’ and by my calculations, it’s 8th in this competition as things stand.
Just a few days ago the site wasn’t even indexed. Yesterday, it was ranked 30+ and today it’s moved up to 12th. Steady progress and i’ll make sure that continues. I’ve no doubt i can grab no.1 spot and i’ve various different plans to do so over the next couple of weeks
It’s gonna be a long hard battle with other webmasters and i’m sure they’re as equally pumped up as I am, but seeing my site start slowly starting to progress in Google has given me a taste for success.
You know that SEO contest i was talking about a couple of days ago? Well i’ve been busy working on a new site for it called Geansai Gorm News (bluejumpernews.com).
I’ve found a nice theme, stripped it down a bit and i’m slowly beginning to optimize it for google. Unlike a lot of the sites that i suspect will be taking part in this, i’m hoping to keep this one going and turn it in to a novelty / WTF? type blog.
Geansai Gorm News will feature random news about anyone wearing a ‘geansai gorm‘ (blue jumper). Check out the about Geansai Gorm page for more I’ve got all of November to play with this one and hopefully i’ll be able to turn it in to a top 3 site by the deadline.
I’m not sure who else is entering this, but i’ve seen plenty of buzz around forums and blogs so i’m sure there’ll be plenty of interest. I’ll be happy with a top 3 finish as this is my first ever SEO competition, but then again, there’s no reason why i can’t fend off the rest for no.1 spot
It will be a lot of work – that’s the problem, but i’ll do my best to keep it going for as long as possible!
