college

2nd year in college - here i come

On Wednesday, i tried ringing my college literally 10 times throughout the day and couldn’t get through at all… so i sent them an email. The problem i had was about registration for 2nd year. Other people had gotten their letters and dates - i got nothing. Some people were even registering Thursday and Friday (today) which meant i had to get in touch with the college quickly! Time to panic

Still no sign of an email or any post on Thursday so again, i tried ringing several times and eventually got through. I was told i couldn’t register until i had gotten the results of my repeat maths exam on September 10th.

Damn, not only could i not register, i’d have to miss 2 days of college. So i’d be playing catch up instantly plus i could guarantee there’d be a big mix up when i show up for classes not on the books and not having registered…

So then Sean from Leateds scanned and emailed me a copy of his registration letter… he failed the same subject as me, he’s in the same class etc… and he got a registration letter… WTF!

So this morning, Friday, i rang back AGAIN… for the third successive day and after a bit of explaining eventually i was told to call in today and register. Great - a nice two hour round drive that i didn’t want ;-) I got sorted eventually and i’m all signed up for year 2. I go back on September 9th so next week will be my last week of freedom :-)

On the way up, some guy in a merc overtook me at what must have been 150km/hr+ on a fairly dangerous stretch of road… totally blind and i could see him shooting up behind me in my rearview mirror. Pure luck that nothing was coming in the oncoming direction. Northern reg plates, and he continued leap frogging cars in front on white lines and coming up to junctions… almost suicidal driving!

I was hoping i’d see him lying in a ditch later up the road… no excuses for that. People like that end up as statistics and sympathy headlines in newspapers. I’ve no sympathy for clowns who drive like maniacs and end up killing themselves - better them than innocent people they could potentially take with them.

Maxed Out

For the first time ever online, i feel like i’m actually working at full throttle. I’ve so much on my plate right now, it’s not even funny. Going back to college next month is gonna be tough - i’ll have to make some major cutbacks to my online work.

Anyway, I’ve agreed to join a 5 person team to enter a blog flipping challenge. The goal is simple… the blog that sells for the highest amount after 45 days wins.

The team get to keep all the cash, plus they get 10% of what all the other teams blogs sold for. So let’s say we sell a blog for $5000 and 10 other teams sell blogs at $1000, it would mean we’d get $6000 in total split 5 ways.

Although the money will be nice (assuming the blog will sell for over $1k, i should get about $150 minimum for my troubles), the other big advantage is getting some more contacts and hopefully forming future partnerships out of it all…

That’s just the tip of the iceberg though… i have a whole tonne of work to get through. I’ll be a relieved man once this skydive is over - not because i fear jumping out of a plane, but i’ll be relieved simply to have the competition work over with  I’ve got some cool prizes so far from some pretty big names and sites around the blogosphere, so i’m hoping that continues ($2k worth of prizes thus far).

Moving on from that, i have several sites i want and need to flip in order to take in some cash and i also have my jackpot network of sites which need to be filled with content.

BeerChief is always on my mind i’m well aware i need to keep the boot down on it. It’s always easy to say just focus on one thing at time but i like to keep myself flat out - i feel it makes me more creative as i’m always thinking and don’t have time to slack off and play games or watch TV

another big week ahead

This week is another biggie… i have to find sponsors for my skydive charity competition, finalize exactly how the competition will operate (how to enter, when it closes, where the money is going etc..). I’m hoping to kick things off on september 1st and run the competition until september 30th, then do the skydive sometime in mid-october.

The competition really hinges on how good the prizes are (otherwise people won’t bother entering), so i’m hoping putting up $100 in cash prizes myself plus some other stuff will get things off to a good start…

It’ll all be pretty hectic and be over in a flash but i know i’m doing a good thing and i won’t regret it.

I’m determined to do this thing and do it right. It’s all for a great cause, it means i’ll get to skydive and there really is no negative points to doing it - the only negative is the sheer amount of time and organization it will take.

I’m also hoping to flip a few sites this week - it’s been a while since i’ve done that and it’s a nice habit to get in to - flipping sites on a weekly basis

At some stage i’ll have to go up to college to register for the coming year, so that’ll be fun - it should give me a chance to see my college friends after being away from them all summer.

If i get a chance i’m hoping to launch another yesnoblog.com type site and i’m also hoping to get a few new posts on yesnoblog.com itself. Busy times ahead…
