June 2008 recap

Rather than refer to these end of month recaps as ‘month year earnings’, i’ll start to call then ‘month year recaps’ from now on as that’s really the way i’m heading at the minute – focus on content rather than cash. So here’s the ‘June 2008 recap’.

BeerChief. Plain and simple. It’s all been about BeerChief. Today, we’ve just launched BeerChief and it’s the culmination of a lot of money, time and hard work. So far, so good… we’ve got some great detailed feedback and i’ve already made dozens of small changes based on that.

The initial reaction thus far has been positive. Keep in mind most of the current users are friends / online pals etc… so they’re not likely to bash the site like complete strangers would. But these are people we trust to give a fair opinion of the site and that’s what we’ve gotten so far.

Anyway, it’s a bit early to be talking about how BeerChief’s doing as it’s only been up and running ~6 hours.

In June, i also headed to London for a few days. I got word i’d failed my maths exam in College and of course i introduced a new theme to this blog. I also hit the 1000 post mark on this blog and just to cap it all off hit the 250,000 word mark in the same post :-)

On this blog, i said i’d planned to up the quality a bit. I think i’ve done that. I’ve tried to add more pictures to my posts and keep them interesting. I’ve been de-railed slightly by BeerChief but that’s to be expected really.

I also said i’d reward my top commenters at the end of every month from now on with a special mention. So here you are guys (top 5);

Keep up the good commenting

So June was a pretty eventful month, i did make about $85 in some recent sales but as i’ve said above, it’s not about the money really any more – it’s about quality.

Man Utd Champions League 2008 Winners

It’s been a fantastic evening for me as a Man Utd fan…

The Champions League Final tonight had everything in it… goals, both sides dominating, shots hitting the post & crossbar, sendings off, extra time, penalty shoot out drama…

It was one of the great matches and finals and we’ll look back on it as the final that had everything. Chelsea were lack lustre in the first half, something i predicted. United were bright from the off and their passing was crisp and accurate. They took the lead through a Ronaldo header. Goal number 42 of the season for him.

That all changed though a minute before half time… Chelsea got lucky after the ball deflected of two Utd players in to the path of Lampard. Van der Saar slipped at the vital moment which gave Chelsea an undeserved equaliser right on half time.

Second half and both sides reversed roles. Chelsea dominated with the odd Utd attack. No goals however. In to extra time and it was 50-50… anyone’s game. Drogba stupidly got himself sent off for slapping Vidic in the face (WTF?!)

So then we come to the dreaded penalty shoot out. The first 4 penalties are tucked away. Up pops Ronaldo – mr goal machine. Misses. D.I.S.A.S.T.E.R.

The script was now written i thought… Ronaldo – the goal machine was the one who ‘lost’ it for Utd. We’re down to the last penalty now… Chelsea 4 Utd 4, and this penalty would win it for Chelsea. Up comes John Terry – Mr Chelsea. I had visions of Terry blasting it home in to the top corner and going up to lift Chelsea’s first ever Champions League. Fingers crossed, breath held and Terry runs up…

I’ve never loved a goal post so much in my life

So we’re all square now again.. we slot home a few more until all of a sudden the pressure is now on Chelsea… miss and Utd win. Tables turned.

Anelka pops up… Ex-Arsenal, Liverpool, City and Real Madrid man – 4 of Utd’s fierces rivals, now player with a 5th in Chelsea. Oh how i’d love it if he…..

MISSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Van Der Saar guesses right and shuts him out. Memories of ’99 come flooding back… these sort of moments are priceless… they don’t come around often.

This is why we love football, and this is why Man Utd fans love Utd… ‘dramatic success’ are two words i’d associate with them. Anyway, League and European Champions 2008 – one of the great Utd sides and one of the great Utd nights!
