I thought i’d give you my stats so far.. 1268 impressions, 8 clicks, 0 referrals = $0.00

Disappointing. Then again 8 clicks is nothing. Really, you’d be lucky to get a conversion rate of 5% with any sort of targeted traffic. 8 click is just under 1% of 1000 impressions. for 5% of 8 is….

Basically, i now think to earn money on auction ads, there is a double barrier to get through. Firstly, it’s difficult enough to get people to click on ads, but it’s even more difficult to get a high click through rate AND conversion rate. The chances of small time guys like me, earning money with this, look to be very very limited.

That’s my initial opinion, 6 days in. Basically, it relies on ebay to make money. As ebay auctions are generally low cost affairs, the chances of me, ebay, auction ads and the seller making money, are very very slim. With essentially four bodies relying on cash from one ebay sale – it’s a system which i can’t see working – certainly not for the small guy like me. Adsense is still king.
