Pet Prison up and running…

PetPrison.com is up and running. It’s a domain i bought a while back… i created a nice logo in adobe illustrator and i’ve spent a couple of hours creating a custom theme.

I’m hoping the custom design and logo will make it more attractive to buyers. We’ll see. I’ll add more content, then sell it ASAP (as in this week).

In total, i’ve probably spent about 3 hours getting the site the way it is (buying name/ syncing with server / installing wordpress / designing logo / template).

So lets take minimum wage in Ireland at the minute - €8.65 ($13.53) Times it by three to get $40.59. Add in the domain name cost at $6 and hosting (lets say $2) and that brings the total ‘expenditure’ to ~$50… (i know you can’t put a price on time, that’s what i’ve done for the sake of experiment)… in a real job for example i couldn’t earn more than minimum wage with no qualifications.

I’d imagine petprison.com is worth $70/80 now, maybe more. I’ll have to wait and see. But it’ll be an interesting experiment. I *could* churn out sites like these for fun if i wanted to… in the past i haven’t been able to custom design them - that’s been the problem.

But if this site was to sell for, say, $100, it would mean i could theoretically work part time on the net for double the minimum wage It’s not something i’ve ever looked at in great detail, but if i *were* to spend a set amount of time creating new sites and selling them every week, it could well be worth my while in the short-medium term.

So although petprison.com is just a small niche site that i’ll flip, i will be looking at the bids closely and doing some more number crunching after it sells.
