pagerank bloodbath continues..

I’ve noticed more bloggers have been zapped out of pagerank over the past couple of days.

A few people over on the PPP forums have mentioned it, and Becky has also been hit, despite not doing any paid reviews

Google really are digging a large grave for themselves at the minute. As i keep saying, the likes of Becky are the sort of people who gave Google the kick start to get going. Tech savy, use the internet, love the internet and want to improve it. They are the most influential people on the web. Webmasters who know they’re shit. Anything new and cool is first seen by webmasters and then that filters down to the average joe on the street.

By annoying and messing about with these guys, Google are losing an awful lot of respect very quickly. Ok, it’s not the end of the world, it’s only a little green bar and i’m sure everyone still uses google and doesn’t boycott it alltogether.

But for the first time ever, cracks are now appearing in what was once fanatical support for the big G. That is not good for Google. No company can keep 100% of their users/customers happy, but Google did a damn fine job of it over the years. Recently though, this PR thing has left a bitter taste in many people’s mouths as it has effected thousands of very tech savy, influential people, not just the odd one or two.

It’s not just the PR thing either, apart from banning me from adsense, i was angered by JohnChow’s sandboxing and the likes of text-link-ads being manually sandboxed also as there was no real need for it. These guys weren’t breaking any laws, they were simply exploiting google’s weaknesses, so in a wierd sort of way, they helped make google better, but for that, they got bitchslapped.

It’s little things like that which eat away at people like me. It can be the difference between recommending a google product, or recommending a rival product. For the first time ever, that’s now the way some people are starting to feel imo.

Hey just as a heads up you’re only getting tossed in the mix at digg.com I suggest using blogengage for more targeted traffic.

With that said I Think you have a great point in this article! Google has gone to far and I’m really sick of it. As of yesterday I took 90% of my Google ads off my website. I’m tired of them trying to control and dominate the world wide web. Google has forever been in charge of the way we advertise and solicit our domain names (websites) Well not no more for me. For one I n longer care about page rank and don’t have the toolbar installed. I will continue to purchase backlinks and I will continue to purchase blog reviews no matter what.

Could this possibly be the inevitable demise of Google, the downward spiral if you will. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few months.
