Work

Motivation all around..

I have to admit, the past few weeks i’ve been rather down regarding internet/business.

I don’t know why- financially, this has been my best month to date.. there’s also the excitement of a PR update any day soon..

Perhaps it’s the fact i have to go to college and it’s that ‘back to school’ feeling you get as a kid.. perhaps it’s the fact i’ve no real income, no stability.. perhaps i’m just bored or need more work… i don’t know..

But i’ve just been browsing about for the past hour and come across 2 very motivating stories/events..

The first is Graham Langdon – owner of the million dollar wiki.. he’s given up college and become another .com success story… i’ve blogged about the mdw before and although i don’t share Graham’s enthusiasm regarding it’s future, i do admire his drive and determination..

Earnings are now up to $36k.. i’m sure he’s pocketed about $25k of that (less affiliate deals, advertsing, expenses etc).. That’s what a lot of people earn in a year, working 40 hours a week.. Taking the decision to drop out of college was a no brainer imo.. i’d do the same. Follow your dreams.

The second was piece of motivation i received was through emails.. jpegr.net was offered to me. Which is flattering as i own the .com. So someone had the confidence to buy it and believed they could sell it at a profit or do something with it.. it then re-inforced the idea that jpegr.com is in fact a pretty valuable site and domain..

I tend to forget about the ‘asset’ value of my sites.. (i.e what i could make if i sell it). Some of you might have noticed jpegr.com has sold 3 out 4 ad slots with text-link-ads… so it’s fast becoming a nice bit of passive income for me.. mygadgetinfo is simply ridiculous at this stage.. it’s sold 5 ads on text-link-ads.. i update the site about once every 2 days and it takes like 2 seconds

It’s PR is due to free fall though.. that’s because i was hit with a copyright infringement case way back in May.. i had to pull literally hundreds of articles. I was disappointed as i’d bought the site a few months before and had assumed the content was legit as it had been up and running for several months.. but i was determined to keep it alive and started pulling tech-related videos and that’s worked out well..

So things are in fact not too bad at all, and it’s critical that i don’t fall into this sort of mindset again. There is money out there and there’s lots of it – i’ll have to write that out 100 times on a blackboard
