more contests to be launched..

Following the successful $100 BeerChief logo contest over on sitepoint, we’ve decided to go ahead with one or two more.

The next contest will be a challenging one; to design two BeerChief ‘bouncers’.

These bouncers will be placed on the frontpage/homepage of BeerChief and will do a similar job as real life bouncers – check ID, and block minors from entering the premesis. Pretty clever, eh? This was my idea and i think it can only help BeerChief’s appeal as it interacts with the users.

The 2nd contest will probably be a site design – the most important. My partner should be able to take care of coding, so we’re looking for some real flair and imagination on the design front. It will be very difficult to tempt us on the site design, as we have extremely high standards and may end up just going with our own initial designs rather than fork out hundreds of dollars for one we’re not 100% happy with.

None the less, if we see something we like, we’ll hand over the cash in the blink of an eye. Prices haven’t been fixed yet, we’ll talk about that, but i’d imagine for the two contests, over $700 will be on offer.

Also, our plans to launch a blog and ‘coming soon’ page on St. Patrick’s Day are still on course.

Does the site really need to block “minors”?

Landing pages, including “are you old enough” type pages turn a lot of people off.

Remember that the homepage will (probably) be the first page people see so you have to capture the users attention from the start.

Anyway, blah blah blah.. If it’s going to happen anyway then the bouncers sound like a nice touch… so yes – pretty clever ;)

yes, we need it to cover our arses  the site will have over 18 content on it (like nudity, maybe poker links etc..).

look at all the big drinks manufacturer’s websites – they all have an age verification page. It’s a token gesture to say that they don’t encourage underage drinking.

if bebo get’s parents all hot and bothered, imagine what BeerChief could do if open to all ages
