May 2008 earnings

Posted on Sunday, June 1st, 2008 at 10:46 am

Another new month… today is June 1st.

That means another end of month earnings / summary post.

In April in earned $1025. That was on the back of March’s $1440 and February’s $1373… So the notion that hitting the $1k/month was a ‘fluke’ was put to bed.

Could i repeat the $1k+/month this month? Well i knew it would be difficult and i said that last month… I had exams, i also had BeerChief to work on and pay for, plus i was just after getting my new XPS and i knew it would take some time just to get all my software working and to get used to such a powerful PC, coming from 3 years with a laptop.

In May 2008 i earned $85 :-( Up until two days ago, i had earned $0  I couldn’t let myself settle for $0 so i just had to sell something… i made two sales in the form of badtackle.com & manutdinfo.com.

But it hasn’t been a ‘bad month’… i’ve managed to become a designer almost overnight and have come up with a few themes and logos that look respectable. I’m a novice, sure, but if i carry on like this i’ll have quite the portfolio by this time next year ;-)

I’ve also designed a clever BeerChief 404 error page plus i’ve come up with half a dozen BeerChief headers which we’ll be using at some stage. Then there was the BeerChief promo video

I also managed to get away for a few days to Wexford so all in all, i got a lot done last month and despite the lack of earnings, i’m still pretty happy with (a) my workrate and (b) my progress as a designer (c) how BeerChief has come along.

I should also point out that in May 2008, i probably spent more cash than i’ve ever done before in one month online… roughly $3500. Most on BeerChief, but factor in my London trip and various other bits and bobs and it all adds up… Go back another month and you can add another $3000+ for my new office…

So in the last two months, i’ve probably spent ~$6500 online  It is basically all what i’d class as ‘investment’ though… i needed a new PC, it allows me to work faster and multi-task more, it also opens up graphic design work and video editing, of which you’ve already seen me get involved with last month.

BeerChief is of course also an investment… my biggest project by a long shot, to date. BeerChief will be launched this month (June), so it’s a MASSIVE month ahead for me, my biggest online to date and although it shouldn’t be, it’s an all eggs in one basket situation. But i’m more than confident BeerChief will be a success.

Don’t expect much earnings-wise this month either… i do plan on selling theleavingcert.com – the biggest of my current sites (well, biggest behind BeerChief and this blog), and i’ll try and offload some of my other small sites but once again BeerChief takes priority and if it requires 24/7 work, it’ll get 24/7 work

Although i’m cash strapped at the minute, i’m extremely happy… looking at the above post, it’s clear that i’m being kept busy and chasing dreams, moving in the right direction…
