I was up in Dublin all day thursday and pretty much all day yesterday..
We stayed in the Comfort Inn, Smithfield after i found it last minute at a really great price – €89. It was ranked #6 on tripadvisor, so i knew it was a quality hotel. Anyway, we weren’t disappointed.
Here’s a lovely panoramic snap of our room – unedited in autostitch as i couldn’t be arsed cleaning it up and cropping it
The hotel itself doesn’t have much apart from a restaurant/bar and bedrooms – in fact, it has nothing apart from that
But what is there is top notch in terms of cleanliness, style, service etc..
The room is worthy of a 4* rating.. no robes or fancy shampoo bottles, plus no room service or turn down service – add in them and it would be 4* imo
Breakfast was €7 each (self-service/buffet) – dirt cheap for a hotel. Smithfield itself is pretty dead. A big load of modern office blocks all empty
There was a huge supermarket literally next door to the hotel so that was sweet as we could just pop in and take stuff up to our room. There was also a smaller ‘Spar’ shop across the road but i don’t get it how they both stay open as anytime we were there, the place was dead.
Luas stop was a 1 min walk away. And smithfield is 2 stops away from Jervis St so about a 5 minute journey into the city centre. We could infact see the spire from our window so it looked walkable but i reckon it would take 20-30 minutes – not an option when it’s thunder and lightening and pissing rain
So all in all a great hotel at a great price. Pitty the weather was so bad as it rained on and off yet it was pretty sticky when you’re walking around – hate that
