broke, busy but happy

When i first started this blog, i was at my most successful period (financially) in my life… When i say in my life, i probably mean since i was 16 (when i first got a job). Now i’m 21, i’m at my poorest in 5 years :-)

The reason for that is largely BeerChief. Then again i could easily blame anything…. €4k on a car, €2k on a new office etc… Had i not found a love in technology i would probably still be in part time retail work… i’d guesstimate i would be ~€10-15k better off.

But let’s be honest, that’s nothing… in a lifetime anyway.

But because all of my cash is now ‘working’ or has unlimited growth potential, it makes me much happier than simply having it in a bank account.

I know i can never regret doing what im doing… at 20/21, if you have a *chance* at setting up your own business or creating something big, i don’t think many people would turn it down. If you offered me now €10k cash or the chance to establish and run my own business i’d choose the latter.

Why? Because it’s the long term option in my eyes, it could be worth €0 or €1billion or even get me in to debt but it’s just so much more fun and exciting than accepting €10k. That’s just the sort of person i am, it’s my mindset… any time i have a shot at something big, i’ll take it and sacrafice something small instead.

You can see that from my new office or indeed my old laptop… the best of the best, i could EASILY have settled for less and saved thousands, but the lure and glamour of the bigger better stuff was just too tempting and that pretty much sums up my attitude to work. Why work for someone if you have the chance to work for yourself and remove all income limits?

It’s not greed or me being moulded by a Celtic Tiger economy, it’s ambition and a ’sky is the limit’ attitude. If you don’t believe you can make it in something, you never will… anyone who says otherwise is lying.

Take all of these xfactor/big brother things… most people say they ‘can’t believe it’ or ‘never expected it’ etc if they win or get put through to the next round… BOLLOX. If you thought that you wouldn’t have went to auditions in the first place.

Deep down, every single person who enters anything, even if it’s just for one split second, dreams of winning or what it would be like to win… most people won’t admit it though (particulary Irish/UK) people as our culture classes us as ‘underdogs’ and underdogs don’t do winning talk before a competition.

Anyway, yeah…. broke but happy which shows i don’t have a totally business mind (not yet!)… if i did, i’d be very unhappy :-) An entrepreneurial mind doesn’t mind being broke, so long as it’s creating or trying to achieve things…
