3 niche sites a week challenge

Right. From now on, every week i have to create and sell 3 new niche sites. They’ll all be custom designed and sold on various forums. The aim of the challenge is to make $200 per week. Just to make it all official, i’ve created this;

Here’s some rules for myself to abide by;

  • At least 3 sites must be created and put live every 7 days (unless for some reason i’ve areally hectic week like last week for example where otehr things take priority).
  • At least 2 must be put up for sale in the same timeframe.
  • All must have some sort of custom designed elements.

And now some time estimates;

  • idea generation - 20 minutes
  • domain hunting - 15 minutes
  • buying domain / setting up nameservers / hosting etc… - 10 minutes
  • logo design - 20 minutes
  • template design - 2 hours
  • content creation - 1 hour
  • sales work - 30 minutes

Total max time allocated per site;  4hours 35mins.

  • Current Minimum wage = $13.53
  • 4hrs 35mins x Min wage = $60

So if i were in a normal job, i’d be getting about $60 for my time, or $180 for the 13.5 hours i’d be working. The aim of the challenge is to equal and preferably beat minimum wage as it’ll prove i can earn more than minimum wage from the comfort of my own home, on my own hours, with no work experience or 3rd level requirements :mrgreen:

Finding the time to do this might be tough, but it’s only 13 hours or so tops (probably much less), i reckon i can fit it in until September and at the very least, i’d expect to make 1 or 2 sites during my ‘busy weeks’ - BeerChief version 2 launch and leading up to my repeat Maths exam.

This challenge has already started by the way - i’m putting myself under pressure now… we’re already at wednesday, so i have until Sunday to create 2 more sites (petprison.com is already up for sale). We’ll see how it goes…

They’ll probably all be wordpress - based as i’m getting more and more confident designing themes. But i might try and mix it up with something different after a while…

I’ll record as much as possible in excel spreadsheets and hopefully blog about my success or failure at the end of every week.

I know i said recently it’s not all about money, it’s not… this is about 70% for money, 25% for experience and 5% experiment ;-) I figured if i have the time, why not do something creative…
