I’ve spent the past two evenings now working on my blog’s new theme, trying to perfect it. Here’s a list of what i’ve done since it went live;
- Added retweet button
- Added lifestream section
- Added photo section
- Added photo widget
- Upgraded comment section back end
- Added a subscribe to comments feature
- Slimmed down & re-styled comments area
- Removed some plugins that weren’t being used
- Fixed some display issues in IE
A lot done, a lot more to do. I still have to get my archives page working. I also have to import my blogroll and style the footer section amongst other things.
It’s not easy, it’s not pretty (when you start out), but at the end of it all, i’ll have a quality theme to show off to the world and i can write without fear – i know that when people see the blog for the first time, they’ll be impressed and that is the overall goal of this new re-design.
In other news, it’s looking pretty likely that i’ll be heading back to London this summer for a 3rd consecutive year. I had planned on going to Lisbon, Portugal this summer for a nice relaxing break – had the flights, hotel & transport all researched – it was just a case of clicking to buy.
News of Michael Jackson doing a farewell tour in London though swung it for me. I’m not a massive fan or anything, but the guy is a living legend. London is also much cheaper to get to and there’s more to do.Plus i know it farely well now – it’s turning in to a 2nd home for me
Demand for these is tickets fierce – so fierce millions of people signed up for a pre sale ticket launch and ticketmaster couldn’t cope when the few pre sale tickets went on sale. Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday at 7am. Due to the demand, Jackson has tripled the number of gigs from 10 to 30… stretching from July to September.
The o2 holds around 15,000 people which means over 450,000 people will see Michael Jackson this July. Not many living artists could sell out a 15k stadium 30 times over
Judging by the initial hype and hysteria this is causing worldwide, it looks like Michael Jackson will single handedly keep London’s tourism industry booming this summer
When i get my tickets on Friday, i’ll book flights instantly (€90 return for two incl all taxes) and i’ll let a hotel hang for another while.
