pouncing on domains

Every so often, i go on domain hunts, grabbing all sorts of wierd and wacky domains.

Tonight i’ve just registered ufade.com

I feel it’s a strong domain name, worth more than reg fee at least, which is why i bought it.

Some content vaguely related to the name would see the site take on a whole new value.

At the minute, i’m thinking some sort of image blending script which perhaps mashes images together and allows you to add text over them. Something like that.

Or perhaps a video blog of ghost stories/documentaries or something…

It has potential definitely and i doubt many would turn their nose up at that domain given the chance to buy it at reg fee. Agree/Disagree?

nice name, I’ve been thinking of a few domains recently. But that is a nice short name, well done !

I’ve just looked at the site, and you shouldn’t park it. I would slap up a holding page and get it linked and indexed. Worst case you could be in the Google Sandbox for a few months. Also you will start to get listed on archive.org which helps to prove the age of your site.

something like a javascript library that fades between images like a slideshow.

I love using http://instantdomainsearch.com to check out domains as quickly as I can type them

have you tried youfade as well?

cheers for the comments guys, good point preblogging about parking.. can hit you hard SEO wise, but i’d imagine (and im only guessing here) google won’t come down on newly registered parked domains straight away… maybe i’m wrong :???:

How about a site that you can upload a picture every year, and then you can see how people get older. Something like that could go viral (gosh I hate that word) very quickly. Of course my idea is for sale if you want it ;)

funny, that was an idea i had a while ago having seen something like that on digg where a guy took a snapshot of himself over 20 years or something… was interesting.

sustaining interest would be a problem as it would take years before it catches on, people would signup, add a picture, then forget about it. so i’d have to add an extra dimension to it, to make people visit the site daily.
