October 2008 recap

It’s official, this blog is in a recession :-) A recession of content that is. Last month was my worst month ever (in terms of new posts) on this blog since it began in November 2006. That isn’t good and it’s not a trend i want to continue.

Remarkably, however, October 2008 was the best month ever in terms of revenue on this blog. I completed 3 paid reviews at $35 each ($105), plus i made a further $145 in ads, ad renewals and affiliate earnings. So $250 in total. Not bad just for one blog and i’ll be every happy if that continues ;-)

Throughout September and October i’ve been very busy with college though. The main drain on my time is this video project i have to put together. I’m aiming to have it complete by the end of the month so at long last i’ll get some of my time back come December and you should see the blog post count start to rise.

I also had to look after listlunatic.com which by the way has sold for $2,000. Split it 4 ways and you’ll figure out my share ;-) When/if that money comes through it’ll go on getting BeerChief launched proper. I know i’ve been saying it for the past couple of months, but it really is the last hurdle this time around…

We didn’t want to risk anything or throw money at BeerChief which we didn’t have to get it up and running and although it’s extremely frustrating just letting a site like it sit, we’re finally in a position where we can launch it and not have to worry about expenses or owing people anything.

So expect movement on BeerChief this month ;-) Also expect movement in the geansai gorm SERPS (search pages). I’ve a steely determination to get bluejumpernews.com to no.1 spot for this competition and i’ve decided it’ll get there – no question. It may not be in time for the competition, but it’ll get there – just like theleavingcert.com ranked no.1 for ‘the leaving cert’ and plenty of related searches after about 2 years of trying.

At the minute, 2 url’s created by me are sitting nicely in the top 10 results. Unfortunately none can win this competition but it’s an indication of what’s to come ;-)

Think of it as a personal vandetta against myself  The pessimistic part of me says “Leave it to the ‘pros’, you’ll never be able to outmuscle them and their SEO power.” The optimistic part of me says “hey, what i have got to lose… i can have a real crack at some big names and throw a spanner in their works whilst i’m at it.”

Surely not …. a chink in the geansaí gorm corner?

I reckon with a small bit of work you could easily win it. Go for it … the exposure will be worth it to you.

By the way … where’s me ebook? ;-)

It’s 8.44 p.m here …. (9.44 p.m. on your blog) so it took either 2 hours or 3 hours for your posting to appear in my reader … depending on which time you believe.)

Why does it take so long?

ebook is on it’s way – i sent it to myself instead

as for the time thing, yeah, you mentioned that before… the time is now back to our GMT time (wordpress doesn’t do that automatically yet – although i think there’s a plugin that i should have that does that).

i’m still not quite sure what the problem is – i must investigate further as the likes of technorati seem to get updated straight away.
