Auction Crap Sold!

I put AuctionCrap up for sale a few days ago, slapping a $120 BIN pricetag on it. Perhaps it was a little OTT, as the site had no revenue, i guess people don’t want ‘potential’, they want instant ‘success’ when buying a site.

Minimum i was prepared to lower the BIN to was $70, so i lowered it to $70 yesterday – reluctantly.

Still not much activity, and as i’d set a closing time of 9pm tonight, i decided to stick to it as fair is fair – i said i’d close it at 9pm tonight and ended up closing the auction at just $30.

A steal at $30 imo, i believe it’s worth far more than that when you take the name and niche into consideration. Definitely a diggable and refreshing site imo if the content is right. Anyhow, i guess $30 is better than nothing and it gets the ball rolling on my quest to raise cash for BeerChief and my new office.

Things can only get better, right :mrgreen:

how many ways to make money online?

I have to confess i love being under pressure to earn money.. it’s increased my productivity 10 fold.

Over the past couple of days, i’ve been toying with the idea of making a ‘monster’ ebook on how to make money online. So far, i’ve managed to get 40 bullet points down on paper. The thing is, i’m well capable of giving detailed guides and links on each point, so this ebook could well end up being my single largest document ever created.

40 topics x say 500 words each and that’s a 20,000 word ebook right there excluding screen shots, pictures, contents page, cover page etc… easily 50+ pages.

Finding the time to do that of course is another thing, but i might work on this over a couple of weeks – there’s no way i can complete it in one day like i did my last ebook – guide to wordpress.

This one would also be going up for sale. If i could, i’d prefer to keep it free and host/launch the ebook from this blog which would bring in more subscribers and traffic but at the minute, i need cash for a number of projects. So if i sit down and do this well, this could prove to be a nice little earner.

I’m well aware of the success Walsho and TheUniversityKid have had with certain ebooks… i particularly like Walsho’s idea of making an ebook, selling the crap out of it for the first week or so, then putting it on sitepoint once it hits saturation point listing the revenue as something ridiculous like $1k a month having made $250 in the first week :twisted: That’s just evil, but it works and it’s clever.

First step though is to compose an ebook that is of value and helps people, so i’ll write this just like my last one – and try to give as much advice, tips and help as possible. Big ask – 50+ pages and consistent, quality content… it truely is a ‘book’ rather than just a small document.

Anyone know what the going rate is for a 20,000 word ebook? :mrgreen:

selling auctioncrap.com

I put Auction Crap up for sale on digitalpoint last night.

I’ve set a BIN of $120 and already have a $25 offer. Hopefully it’ll fetch a bit more than $25 and i may lower the BIN if it doesn’t improve, but i will sell it regardless of what price i get for it.

Looking back on things, i think this is actually the first site i’ve put up for sale since i started this blog, which is pretty incredible really. I’ve bought plenty, but can’t seem to recall selling any since i started this blog – certianly nothing of note, i may have sold off one or two domains…

we can only learn so much per day

Yesterday, i had a maths lecture at 4pm-5pm.

Now maths is my most hated / boring subject and i’d regard it as one of my weakest, so at that time of day (having been in since 9am and had pretty much non stop classess all day), i was practically falling asleep.

Not for want of trying, i do try to listen and learn and widen my eyes every now and then but it just doesn’t work, i just can’t focus and really take in what is being said.

Today, we had another maths class in the morning – my 2nd class of the day at 11am. The same stuff, but this time i understood it and was bombing on ahead with questions because the lecturer was going to slow for me…

I find that incredible… my attitude never changes.. i always go in to a class to learn something or come out of it questioning something or thinking of something. So why was there such a big difference in how quickly i absorbed information? Pretty much the same stuff… one day i don’t have a clue what’s going on and walk out of class half sleeping, the next i walk out of class having fully understood everything and done several questions.

I put it down to the fact you can only take in so much per day. It’s an entirely differnetly skill of course, knowing *what* to take in and what not to. How often have you left a class or meeting remembering only the time a funny ringtone went off or someone cracked a joke etc…?? It’s a real pitty we don’t have video technology to record lectures and review them at a later date online… it would improve learning for all of us as we could then look at lectures when we actually are ‘in the mood’ to learn which could be at 4am on Monday morning or 6pm on a Saturday.. everyone works differently.

How to make a header image clickable in wordpress

This is a little ‘problem’ i ran in to when trying to customize a theme… a custom header design will quite often feature a logo or text and by default, wordpress will also display the blog’s name and tagline superimposed over the header.

The end result is a mess of text/images and clickable text which takes you back to the homepage. You can of course move the blog name and tagline to the left or right or change the size/font etc… or you can delete it compeltely and just have your header image as your header.

But now you’ll run in to a little problem – how to make the header image clickable and link it to the homepage. I did a little research and stumbled upon the answer.

Go in to header.php, and replace the red code below with the green code. Problem solved :cool:

<div id=”header”>

to

<div id=”header” onclick=”location.href=’http://siteaddress/’;” style=”cursor: pointer;”>
