Grand Slam of domain names..

The more domains bought, the less there is and thus the value of existing domains increases. To get a one word .com dictionary word is virtually impossible. And so we have the 2.0 era of z’s and r’s and seemingly nonsense words you’d hear from a 2 year old in deep conversation….

Anyway, i spent A LOT of time thinking and searching for names for BeerChief. I wanted ‘Beer’ in the name. Mainly due to the fact i could use that for SEO and it also tells you what the site is possibly about before you log on to it.

‘Beer’ was a popular word, but anything beer related was taken  So i had to add on another word, preferably 4/5 characters as any more would mean i’d have a 10 character name plus the .com which means it has more chance of being forgotten or miss-spelt.

And so i stumbled upon BeerChief, did a quick pro’s and con’s list and decided to go with it as i believed it was brandable, memorable and had an element of fun or 2.0 attached to it – that was my intinct. I was delighted the .com extension was available but later i discovered that all the other extensions were available..

At about $9 a pop to register a name, i was reluctant to go mad and register everything – a sign of my tightness with cash  But i quickly came to my senses and tied up the .net and .org extensions to complete the holy trinity (.com .net .org).

Today, i added to that and here’s my collection of BeerChief domains:

  • beerchief.com
  • beerchief.net
  • beerchief.org
  • beerchief.eu
  • beerchief.biz
  • beerchief.info

It’s incredibly rare you get a half decent name available in all extensions so if you get one, my advice would be to snap up as much as you can afford. .net’s and .org’s have the ability to overthrow a .com in terms of SEO, but it’s rare you’ll see a .info or .eu above the same .com so it’s obvious they hold a weaker value.

So by having the .net and .org’s it means you can eliminate competition for keywords and also re-direct the domains to your .com for maximum SEO.

You might want to get beercheif.com too.

It’s quite an easy mistake to make ;)

Creativity is the name of the “domain name finding game”, now more than ever!

While type-in visitors usually go for dot coms, going for original names, perhaps like “favoritebeer.name” might provide for a relevant promotion platform.
