August 2007 earnings..

When i first started out in this business, $100/month was fantasy stuff. Sure, i thought i could make it, but reality soon set in and i realized my $.10c a day in adsense wasn’t going to add up to $100/month.

August ’07 was my first month ever to break the $100 mark. And i broke it with $21.72 to spare. Averaging $30/week.

PPP = $72.81
TLA = $48.68
Kontera = $0.23 (only running for 2 days)
Total = $121.72

It’s a fantastic feeling to be earning a respectable amount at long last. Triple figures are something i can be proud off as the majority of webmasters/bloggers are stuck on single or double figures. I’d love to see hard stats, but i reckon 90% of webmasters earn less than what i’ve earned last month.

Most give up if they don’t see instant results or things don’t click into place. A lot of people think a website is a get rich quick ‘scheme’, perhaps i was the same, but i was determined to work at it and be patient.

I’m living proof that if you stick with it and keep plugging away, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

It’s been a long time coming, and i’ve taken the knocks, but i’ve dealt with them and battled on. I’m delighted to have smashed this mark but it won’t stop here, i won’t just settle for $100/month every month.

With an impending PR update, this blog will start to play a huge role in my online earnings. JPEGr‘s text link ads sold out last month, so i’ve added another couple of links to it. If they sell, i’ll raise the price of the links slightly.

Between this blog and JPEGr i reckon i can nail $100/month from now on. Any other links on any other sites are just bonuses.

So August has been my best month ever. Ironically July was my worst, but then again July was a weird month as i was away quite a bit and never really got in to the swing of things..

For September, i’ll set a target of $130. It will be tough as i won’t have as much time due to starting college and trying to settle in, but i’ll do my best… i have to prove to myself that August wasn’t a fluke and that i can maintain these sort of earnings..

Google Adsense? Who needs ‘em. I hope this is of inspiration to some of you webmasters..

College Registration Day..

College registration day is on Monday (2 days away).. hopefully i’ll not be starting my course for another week or so after that, i’ll find out Monday..

Anyway, i’ve already got talking to a few guys in my class/course through the internet- a mature student from Dundalk itself and a student going in to 3rd year of the same course.. i know of a few others doing multimedia courses..

Apparently there’ll be a few mature students in our class so that’s nice as it mixes things up a bit.. as expected, the males:females ratio isn’t going to be pretty at about 10:1 :roll:

I keep saying it, but i’m not going to college to get a job. I’m going to learn a bit more for myself, get useful contacts in the web business and finally get some sort of qualification i can show to people.. whilst in college i certainly won’t be putting my web sites and projects on the backburner.. in fact, i hope to team up with a few class mates and start even more projects :twisted:

Don’t forget, this is my job now -working online, so stop working online and income freezes :wink:

Up until now, i have only completed an ECDL course which is very basic, just working with MS Office. Remarkably that’s the only formal qualification i have in computers/IT :roll:
People often bring up the fact the industry isn’t stable, and it’s ever changing.. yeah, so? I want to be the best at what i do. I’m not concerned about lack of jobs or bleak futures. The reality is, if i’m good enough and determined enough, i’ll be sought after. It’s survival of the fittest.

I don’t intend to come out of college ‘looking’ for a job, i intend to create one/many.
