mygadgetinfo.com update..

mygadgetinfo.com is the site i’ve made the most cash from out of all.

It *was* using RSS feeds as content for months, then it got hit with a copyright infringement case, so i had to pull all the content. For the last month or so, i had been using partial RSS feeds as content but traffic went way down and the site just didn’t look good.

So i’ve started custom writing posts and hand picking related videos from metacafe and youtube. It would take about 30 mins to get 5 related videos and add a bit of text on a post, so i figure it’s worth it.

So no more RSS feeds for mygadgetinfo, it’s for the best.

My all time feedburner stats..

This is the sort of trend i like :mrgreen:

In the 4 months i’ve been using feedburner, readership has gone up and up :cool:

Blast from the Past..

Today, i noticed $1.05 sitting in my adsense account.
Grand i said, expecting it to be 4 or 5 clicks from JPEGr, but no.

A single $1.05 click from 3 impressions on a site i completely forgot about.
I then remembered vaguely i’d set up a site before christmas on the subject having seen a small niche.

So i immediately went to overture today, and discovered the following results:
over 10k searches last month for the main keywords + thousands of related keyword searches..
only 605,000 pages indexed in google for the key words, the no.1 slot on google is currently a PR 3 with less than 100 backlinks according to Yahoo.

So i’m now working frantically to SEO this site i set up months ago and get it ranking in the search engines. It’s indexed at present so that’s good.
With single clicks at $1.05, and a gaping niche, i’m obviously looking forward to this challenge. I might even hand write material for it, rather than pull RSS feeds as it’s currently doing.

My site is a .info domain with the EXACT keywords, so that’s also a bonus
I won’t reveal the niche for obvious reasons.. i’ve no problem telling you guys about sites i launch, but this one has major potential and i don’t want any competition :twisted:

Using youtube as a teacher..

normally, i don’t visit youtube or metacafe or any sort of video sites, mainly because they waste away hours of my time.. and that’s something i don’t want to do all day.. i want to be productive and constantly thinking or developing ideas.. i don’t want to be watching ‘how to make smoke with your fingers’ videos or ‘how i used condoms to make my camera waterproof’.

Seriously, that’s the sort of stuff you get on those sites :mrgreen: These guys are clever. Particularly on Metacafe. They get paid per view. So they’ll deliberately create something off the rails and something everyone is curious about. Eventually it will hit frontpage and you’re almost lured into clicking it as it just seems impossible to ‘make smoke with your fingers’, so naturally, im very curious and waste about 5 minutes of my time watching some guy cheat and rub ashes together to generate smoke.

Anyway, youtube and metacafe can be great ‘teachers’ when used properly. For example, search for wordpress SEO and you’ll get great step by step guides on exactly how to optimize your blog. Here’s a sample from graywolf, who is an SEO expert. This sort of stuff is like golddust for newbies. It could save hours of pain in the long run. Although he doesn’t actually show you how to optimize your blog, he breaks the language down into something a child could undestand and basically sums up exactly how search engines view blogs. 4 minutes, wll invested if you’re new to blogs..

May earnings so far..

We’re about half way through May now, so as usual i’ll do a half-months earnings summary..

Adsense = $21.29

Text Link Ads = $17.38

Review Me = $7.50

Auction Ads = $1.91

Total = $48.08

That’s pretty good, considering last months entire earnings were $65.52. So i’ve still get 2 weeks to beat that. All i’ll need is about $17 to beat that, so i’m confident i can do it.

I’m only free from work about 2 weeks so i can’t really expect to work miracles that soon. I will however say that this blog has received a lot of love from me by SEOing it, upping my post rate to 3/4/5 posts a day, getting record RSS readers and traffic..

Since my departure from work, i’ve also made progress with BeerChief; we now have a site design and t-shirts custom made, and we’re preparing to code it and add all the features. So although my earnings may not show it, i’ve actually added real value to both this blog and BeerChief. But that will only start to pay off way down the line in 6 months time :cry:
