preparing for the next PR update..

Well, the current PR update is over as far as i’m concerned. Most of my sites have move up one or two ranks and the subpages have also stepped up.

What disappoints me is this blog. A PR3, over 200 posts, over 16k backlinks according to yahoo.. (most of them from my own sites). I’ve also commented on other blogs and got backlinks that way, i’ve got a few technorati link exchanges..

It’s baffling as to how it can’t have gone up to a PR4 at least. But i suppose i took it for granted the PR would rise, so i must learn from this and start preparing for the next PR update in August/September.

I’ve already re-directed all no www’s to www.’s just to make sure google doesn’t get confused. I see a few of the high fliers doing this, so it obviously can’t hurt. So for example, if you enter ‘smemon.com’, you’ll be re-directed to http://www.smemon.com, where as before you’d simply have gotten ‘http://smemon.com’.

How do you do this? Simple. Add a snippet of code to your .htaccess file:

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^(www.|$) [NC]
RewriteRule ^ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]

And that’s it. Don’t edit anything, just insert the above code and bob’s your uncle. With the next update, i’m not taking anything for granted. :mad:

PR update changes..

BeerChief.com = PR0 to PR2

BeerChief Blog = PR0 to PR3

theeavingcert.com = PR1 to PR3

siralexferguson.info = PR0 to PR2

roykeane.net = PR2 to PR0 :cry:

So improvements all around mainly, many sub pages have also been boosted to a PR2 on theleavingcert.com

The rest of my sites have remained the same so far.. Very disappointing if that’s the case. Unbelieveable in fact if this blog remains a PR3. :evil:

With zero backlinks, it managed a PR3 on the last update… about 150 posts later and hundreds of backlinks, it’s still a PR3 :roll:

Your SEO Niche

Well, at long last it’s live and i’ve made my first post.

I hope to start tackling niches next week, and make one post every 2 days or so. A post a day would be asking too much. A post a day on this blog is enough, especially when i could be working most of the day at my real job.

Add in all the time it takes to respond to emails, keep an eye on my servers /sites, keep the ideas for BeerChief flowing, keep working on my other projects like woodfloorfitters.ie….. it’s a huge amount of work i’m taking on. It is literally turning into a full time job, so i’ll be relieved once i gave up my day job.

Anyway, yourseoniche.com will act as my own mad scientist laboratory where i’ll test out things just for the craic and out of curiousity. Hopefully by the PR update in about August/September i can then start to make a bit of cash from it. I’d estimate at that stage it would be a PR4, provided i keep the posts up on a regular basis.

Never Blue Ads

A few days ago, i joined Never Blue Ads… an affiliate network for the likes of me. I read a review of it over on john chow’s blog.

Anyway, they said they’d contact me to confirm details (i assumed i’d get an automated email) Anyway, a few days passed and i forgot all about it. Just now, a nice lady called Marissa, rang me on my mobile to go through everything :smile:

I was in the car just getting back from work so i wasn’t really prepared for anything and was sort of in a rush.. but she asked me about my sites, what sort of revenue streams work best for me.. how much traffic roughly i get.. So finally she said all sounds good and she’ll approve me there and then. I then got an email welcoming me to Never Blue Ads.

At first glance there’s a lot of spammy ebook type stuff on it.. with huge cash to be had – like $60/70 per book sale etc.. That’s nice but it’s spam and that sort of stuff ruins the internet. I refuse to put ads up of things which i wouldn’t dare buy or use myself.

However, there are several interesting affiliate deals.. some of which i believe could make quite a bit for me.. which i’ve never heard of before.. i can’t give examples yet as i haven’t tried any or examimned then in real detail, but i’m reasonably confident i can make a few bucks a month from Never Blue Ads and their affiliate deals. :razz:

progress report..

I’m sure you’re wondering how my week’s work is going..

  • Move JPEGr to new server. = not done yet, but i’ve got someone to do it.
  • Blog once a day = check
  • Get at least one more direct Agloco signup. = nope, not done yet.
  • Do a full review of my new nokia N95. = well that’s out the window :roll:
  • Start on a new site design for BeerChief. = done
  • Hand in my resignation letter to work. = doing that tomorrow
  • Complete woodfloorfitters.ie blog = done

So 3 done, 3 to do and one void due to non delivery :evil: I still have 3 days left so i’m pretty much on target. Looks like my weeks wages are safe :lol:
