$20 a week…

just a few weeks ago, i had posted on digitalpoint forums how i’d made the $10/week mark in adsense…

now, for the past few days (since i’ve acquired mygadgetinfo), my earnings have been $20+… Thankfully, mygadgetinfo‘s traffic seems to be organic and genuine.. i was worried the buyer was trying to hype it up just for a quick flip. However having talked to the buyer for a while and seen the first day or two’s stats, i’m pretty sure mygadgetinfo is the real deal and a very solid investment.

So at a solid $20 currently, i’m just short of the $100/month target at an estimated $80/month. With a bit more work and backlinks on the current sites, hopefully that $100/month will come good.

January is out of the way, i know i’ll be getting a check through the door for january, so now i’m focusing on febraury.. as it’s the shortest month of the year, i’ll need to up my work rate if i’m to make the $100 mark.

Triple Boost…

Woke up this morning and as usual checked my email, adsense, analytics and sites to see that everything was in full working order.

OVERNIGHT, 3 of my sites my got pageranked…

mygadgetinfo.com: It was a predicted PR3, which i thought was excellent for a site only a couple of weeks old… guess what? It’s landed it at PR4!! Literally just 24 hours after i bought it, it’s value has suddenly increased and it now has a bit of weight and importance in Google’s eyes :-D I’ve been talking to the original owner since (who’s a great guy by the way, genuine and also online with top communication) and as i said to him, i think i’ve grabbed a bargain.

JPEGr.com: I was getting worried with this one. Previously, all of it’s inner pages were PR3 and still are actually… I was dreading a PR3 for the homepage… I felt it deserved a 4 as i’d done a lot of work on it and established it so to speak as a quality image host. Thankfully, it too got a PR4. It now looks a lot better with that little green bar nearly half full ;-)

smemon.com: I never imagined this blog would get pageranked this time around (maybe PR 1 or 2 at best). It’s got virtually no backlinks, it has only about 70 posts so far, doesn’t get much traffic (10-20 uniques a day). It’s landed in at a PR3 which i’m very happy about. Next time around, i should be looking at a very near PR5 in that case which would be pretty sweet :-)

So to recap – two PR 4′s and one PR3 all overnight…

That’s the great thing about this line of business, you can wake up to a hacked site with all your work wiped and held hostage, or you can wake up to things like this with increased traffic, pagerank, earnings etc… It truely is a rollercoaster!

I’m never content…

Just as i’ve hit the $100 mark in adsense, i’ve splashed out on another site, to bolster my adsense earnings.

I’m determined to sustain the $100/month mark in adsense in 2007.

I’ve bought mygadgetinfo.com:

  • Predicted PR3
  • 6000+ pages indexed in Google
  • 5000+ backlinks in yahoo
  • $4/day adsense
  • Autorun
  • Custom made wordpress theme

The domain is only a month old, so it’s a risk.. a $400 risk. I’ve bought it based on it’s early promise. I’m not so naive as to think it will earn $120+ a month, however adsense is well placed and blended so CTR should be high. If i can get traffic to it, it WILL be worthwhile.

At the moment, i can’t really afford it. In order to buy it, i had to dig into my savings for the first time ever… normally i’d just spend my wages from my real job on websites. However i’m confident i can make it a success. It’s also a chance for me to bounce JPEGr off it, to gain traffic and backlinks…

i’m becoming a wordpress expert…

Over the past few weeks, i’ve become familiar with wordpress and now have a bit of experience in how to get the most out of it SEO wise.

The fact i’ve created several wordpress blogs shows i feel it is worth it. Quite simply, a wordpress blog is the fastest way to get indexed in google for free. If tweaked carefully, not only will you get indexed, but you’ll also get decent results on the SERPs.

Using an rss feed as content works. Overnight, you could literally have 0000′s of pages indexed in google. No other software can offer that.

roykeane.net is an auto-updating blog with currently 200 pages indexed in google. Apart from a backlink on this blog and on my boards.ie sig, it had no backlinks whatsoever.

It was indexed within 2 days and within a week was on google frontpage for ‘Roy Keane’. It now has a Pagerank of 2.
However, I don’t want to give away all my sites and links to them/info on them etc… what am i? Stupid :-D

Yesterday, i created another niche auto blog which has massive potential. (over 8000 searches in overture but just 600,000 results in google). My domain name is the exact search terms in .info form so that should add weight to my google ranking also.

So do not under-estimate wordpress.. it has massive potential and with a few small tweaks, an RSS auto blog can overtake an established site in the google SERPs.

the story so far…

as promised, i’ve taken time out to do a mini-analysis of my online finances over the past 6 or 7 months (when i started making sites).

Expenses

  • theleavingcert.com – $350
  • rachelmcadams.info – $150
  • jpegr.com – $500
  • hiring coders – $85
  • advertising – $30
  • sharethegame.com – $30
  • syndicate investment – $350
  • domain names – $25
  • hosting (1 year) – $60

total expenses = $1580

Assets

  • jpegr.com – $1200
  • roykeane.net – $200
  • theleavingcert.com – $400
  • rachelmcadamsfan.info – $100
  • mrbeanfan.com – $100
  • siralexferguson.info – $100
  • sharethegame.com – $30
  • camel-spiders.info – $30

assets = $2160
revenue = $100 (adsense)

total estimated worth = $2260

So at present, i’m actually doing better than I thought… I’ve tried to be as impartial as possible when putting a price on my sites and secretly, i’d be expecting a little more from the big guns like jpegr.com and the theleavingcert.com plus roykeane.net which is an auto blog with virtually all organic traffic from google so it too is very rare and valuable.

$2260 (assets) – $1580 (expenses) means I could potentially have a profit of $680 if I sold everything now.

That’s encouraging. At times i feel as if i’m working hard building sites and getting nothing back, but the figures seem to look ok.

At present i should be looking at $30/month minimum in adsense revenue so over 12 months, that would give me a figure of at least $360, say $400.

subtract hosting and domain renewals and i’m looking at a profit of $300/year or $25/month.

I should also mention my $350 syndicate investment has the potential to turn into thousands the way things are shaping up with our ideas. If 1 out of our 10 ideas come good, i can then start to get serious and buy bigger sites which i can earn a living off.
